Bloom is a series of constraint based tools for growing your creativity.
Throughout my final year I’ve been researching how the tools we use affect how & what we create.
As I dug deeper into the problem it became evident that our tools are influencing nearly everything we do, especially in a creative context. My question was, if they are going to influence us, why not have them influence us for the better? Bloom is my answer to this.
Bloom consists of three main tools: Collect, View & Change.
A desktop app for thoughtfully restricted viewing of your creative inventory.
View allows you to view your visual inventory without being too heavily inspired by any one thing. Simply paste a link to an Are.na channel, Pinterest board or drag a folder from your computer to add your inspiration.
View constrains you to only move forward through your inspiration, with modes for infinite scrolling, randomized click-through, or timer-based viewing. You never dwell on one image too long, and your visual inventory always feels fresh.
I’ve already build an alpha version of Bloom that I’ve been using personally. I’ll be open-sourcing it and having a free download available soon.
A focused mobile app for collecting inspiration. (images soon)
A collection of open source plugins & extensions for thoughtfully constraining your creative process.
Feel free to email me for more info on this project. I’m taking my time to do it right and would love your input.
